Show Running: Local Live

While In college I worked at the Student run TV station. While there I performed various roles on multiple shows but dedicated most of my time to producing the live musical performance show Local Live.

Local Live was a celebration of the Austin music scene. It is one of the longest running shows on TSTV, stretching back to the late 90’s. Each week a different local artist would be invited onto the show to perform. Their performance is broadcast on TSTV as well as on the student radio station KVRX.

I volunteered on the show for my entire college career, and produced it from 2014-2017. During my time I organized the media archives of the show, established workflow and documentation, created graphic assets that are still in use, and most importantly to me, helped mentor new crew members in multiple aspects of video production.

Local Live was one of the first shows at TSTV to have an online video ‘go viral’ and hit over 1 million views.

Local Live would also occasionally invite touring bands on to perform. Some notable artists to perform on Local Live this way are Mitski, Mild High Club, and Fidlar. (It’s also rumored that the Alabama Shakes performed on Local Live, however I was never able to find any records of their session).

This is one of my favorite SXSW sessions.
